Kevin Alin founded New Frontiers Development Group in 2018 as a platform from which new and innovative approaches to place-making, wealth building and empowerment will be demonstrated. Kevin has committed his professional career to creating positive impact in the communities he serves. Mr. Alin has most recently served as the Vice President at the Fund for our Economic Future where he leveraged more than $115M in philanthropic investment to bring accessible and inclusive economic growth for all residents of Northeast Ohio. Whether advancing projects like the Opportunity Corridor in Cleveland, or workforce innovation efforts in the Mahoning Valley, Kevin proved instrumental in bringing forward practical applications of racial equity to complicated projects.
With the help of Kevin’s leadership Northeast Ohio has been positioned to lead the nation with respect to implementation of the Opportunity Zone legislation. Kevin’s early work in assisting the State of Ohio in identifying strategic Opportunity Zones has helped attract investors and Opportunity Funds from across the nation who are eager to enhance social impact through market-driven investments. Catalytic investment and development are now subject to the innovative approaches being pioneered by New Frontiers.
Prior to joining the Fund for our Economic Future, Mr. Alin served as the Executive Director of School Choice & Enrollment for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District where he was able to institute numerous systemic reforms while increasing overall enrollment, for the first time in decades, through public service innovation. More importantly, while serving at the school district Kevin garnered a neighborhood and family level perspective of Cleveland that continues to drive his passion for delivering equity for all residents. Before his service in the Cleveland schools, in 2010 Kevin co-founded Citizens Leadership Academy, a high-performing expeditionary middle school in Cleveland, Ohio. Since its launch, CLA has now grown to over 400 students enrolled over two campuses. Kevin now serves the students and families of Citizens Leadership Academy from the Board of Directors.
Kevin and his wife Tara moved to Cleveland from Oakland, California in 2010. In California Kevin led the San Francisco Assessor-Recorder’s office as the Chief of Staff. In that position Kevin oversaw and managed a $15.7M departmental budget and 120 employees who were dedicated to fair and accurate assessments on over $150B in real estate in San Fransisco. In addition to navigating complex real estate transactions in one of the hottest real estate markets in the country, Kevin was additionally responsible for improving public service through systems innovation. Kevin and his wife left the Bay Area for an opportunity to bring their brand of servant leadership to Northeast Ohio and build community. Since arriving in Northeast Ohio, Kevin and Tara have welcomed two beautiful daughters, Tayanna and Kaiya, who are now Cleveland Browns fans for life.
